George Goodwin, a master carpenter and home builder, was handpicking the finest materials to build his own dream home. He acquired some longleaf pine logs a fisherman friend recovered from the Suwannee River and the rest is history.

The virgin quality, rich red patin a and amazing grains of this "underwater" heart pine, as well as the rarity and historical significance, became his passion. He realized others would value this treasure and opened Goodwin Heart Pine Company in 1976.

Since then, Goodwin Heart Pine Company has earned the reputation of one of the most highly respected manufacturers of antique heart pine and heart cypress in the world. Installed in homes and businesses throughout the country, Goodwin's river recovered® wood has also been featured in several publications and on many television shows.

The cornerstone of owners George and Carol Goodwin is a tradition of commitment to using only the highest quality wood and strict grading standards...standards you can count on in a complex industry where national grading does not exist and so-called heart pine is not always "all heart." You, too, can own a Goodwin.

Goodwin Heart Pine offers a variety of products and styles to fit your needs. Original growth wood remains unsurpassed by today’s new growth options when considering beauty, durability, and style. The River Recovered Heart Pine and Heart Cypress, Legacy Heart Pine and Wild Black Cherry have been used by architects, designers, builders, carpenters and homeowners across the country for more than 30 years. Whether you are looking for flooring, cabinetry, stairs or lumber, Goodwin Heart Pine provides only the highest quality wood to meet each discerning standard.

Compared with “old growth” or “new growth” material, River Recovered and Legacy woods are much more durable, harder, and take on a much richer color and tone over time. Wild Black Cherry is a beautiful compliment to heart pine and is used as inlays, flooring and cabinetry.

Whether you are matching an existing floor, installing a beautiful floor of your own, woodworking or trim work, Goodwin Heart Pine has the woods and the products to meet each of your needs.
