For us home design is a combination of functionality, style and endurance, combined with a moral, social and environmental responsibility. Our Town
South Florida does not typically bleed “green” as many other parts of our world do.

We are not leaders in energy conservation or even water preservation. We tend to be the first to follow and last to lead when it comes to guiding our world to a more sustainable lifestyle.

On the positive side – there is the opportunity for South Florida to change. We are a creative Mecca bustling with cultural diversity and overflowing with heaps of potential.

South Florida is the home of Eco Simplista, and we are proud to do our part in contributing to the wellness of our world.

About Us
Derek Shambora, 26, is founder, president, and the “heart” behind Eco Simplista.

What started as a simple “non-toxic” paint store in 2008 has transpired into a sustainable design haven with Derek’s personal style at the forefront.

At Eco Simplista, Derek researches extensively to find unique, creative, sustainable products that perform far superior to even the most “toxic” substitutes found at the big box outlets, which according to him is no easy task. Derek is also responsible for overseeing all field jobs and dreaming up the company’s next big project.

When not planning the next color scheme, Derek can usually be found kicking it back with his friends at the beach, surfing sunsets behind “the houses”, or shopping at a local farmers market for some fresh eats.

Dana Shambora, 30, is General Manager of Eco Simplista and also sister to Derek.

Prior to joining the team Dana spent nine years mastering our local PR, Marketing, and Event Planning industries.

When the opportunity arose for Dana to join the family business she jumped on it, bringing all of her expertise to Eco Simplista.

Aside from her daily responsibility of running the retail store, Dana is the brains behind all press releases, marketing ideas, and event hosting. When not greeting customers, Dana spends her free time reading novels, playing with her English Bulldog at the park, having dinner parties and cooking up rare and exotic dishes.

How We Select Our Products
When selecting which products we are going to carry we use the following criteria:

Performance - Does it perform as well as or better than similar products? We test all products before bringing them into Eco Simplista to sell to our customers.
Health - Is it healthier and safer for us and the environment than similar traditional products?
Cost - Is it a reasonably priced solution for our customers?
Use - Would we personally use it in our workplace or home? Only after we are satisfied that a product successfully meets all the above requirements do we offer the product to our customers.

Knowledgeable product support
Almost all of the big-box stores are offering items that are labeled “green” but often times the sales person has little or no knowledge of the product, how to use it or what makes it better than another product. Everything that we offer in our store not only have we asked the manufacturer what steps it has taken to make the product less toxic; but in addition we have tested it ourselves!
